One of our favorite things about the holidays is sitting down to develop our menus for our different holiday gatherings. We love to find new recipes every year instead of always having the same menu.
This year for one of our gatherings we are doing a fondue party. When we were kids, this was a holiday tradition but we have not done it for a very long time and our own kids have never experienced this fun tradition. We have been scouring our cookbooks at Whimsy to add to our menus. Here are a few ideas that we can't wait to try this year.
Stop by Whimsy for some new cookbooks. Mention this post and receive 20% off of all cookbooks in the store.
In the cookbook Handwritten Recipes by Michael Popek there are some great breakfast recipes that we are going to try for Christmas morning brunch. The Peanut Butter Cereal Muffins and Universal Waffles from scratch look delicious. For our fondue party we are going to try the Simple Pound Cake recipe.
You can't go wrong with the classic Betty Crocker Picture Cook Book. We remember looking through this cook book at home and picking out cookie recipes to try at Christmastime. The Classic Spritz Cookie recipe is one of the best.
We have a new Holiday Cookies cookbook by Alice Medrich. The Bittersweet Decadence Cookies and Gooey Turtle Bars are on our sweet treats list this year.
The Pioneer Woman Cooks "A Year of Holidays" cookbook has an amazing Christmas section filled with sweets, main dishes and even Christmas Morning Brunch. We have favorite recipes from all of the Pioneer Woman Cookbooks. These cookbooks make great gifts for any of the Chefs and Bakers in your life.
Speaking of great gift books. Jenny Rosenstrach has two great gift books that are filled with wonderful recipes and stories. How to Celebrate Everything takes you through holidays and she shares traditions with you to create with your family and Dinner: A Love Story is a go-to cookbook in our house (especially the pizza) and it is a great read, too.
If you don't love to be in the kitchen and holiday entertaining does not sound fun to you at all, we have some easy options for you, too. We will share those with you tomorrow :)
